This early 1800's 1 1/2 story Dutch Colonial was a complete renovation. The house itself, an old Cabell house in the WIngina area, was in danger of collapsing before we started and in very poor condition. The Owners were hoping to replace just the roof, kitchen and bath, but it was soon determined that much more was needed in order to save the home.

As part of the renovation, we demolished the old structure to its hand-hewn timberframe, replaced the entire rotted American Chestnut on stacked stone foundation, keeping one fireplace and the hand-hewn timbers framing up the original portion of the home. The flooring in the upstairs was repurposed and became the new staircase with an integrated bookshelf. We added a half bath upstairs, completing it with bamboo flooring upstairs and polished acid-stained concrete radiant-heated floors downstairs. A metal roof with eight skylights bring much-needed light into the upstairs and kitchen, removing alomost 1000 Sqft. of area, bringing the home back to the original house dimensions prior to 1970. A wrap-around porch is the next step in this project.
